Know Your Numbers
At your yearly check-up, your primary care physician gathers several numbers and measurements through a variety of tests – but what do these numbers mean for your health?
Here at Care Station, we believe that knowing your health numbers plays an important role in helping you lead a healthy, productive life. Checking your key health numbers through blood samples and physical examinations, then assessing them against your ideal baseline, indicates the current state of your health and helps to determine your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other health conditions.
Some key health markers include:
- Blood Pressure (BP)
- Blood Glucose levels (Blood Sugar)
- Cholesterol (HDL “Good” and LDL “Bad”)
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Hemoglobin A1C
- Vitamin D levels, and more
An individual’s ideal health numbers may vary depending upon certain factors such as height, sex, age, family history and more. Through a full examination, your Care Station primary care physician will determine the ideal health numbers that are right for you, and work with you to create a personalized health plan designed to help you get them where they need to be.
At Care Station, we believe an educated patient is the best patient. That’s why we encourage all individuals to get to know their key health numbers, which all begins with your yearly physical.
